We may think of character as related to or tied in with personality. It is the qualities that make a person what he or she is.
So, this would include dependability, reliability, truthfulness, kindness and compassion.
It can also include a person’s personal reputation. Being persistent, sticking it through thick and thin as we say. Follow through with assignments and responsibilities and not leave things hanging in the air.
A person’s character may be developed by what one sees, that is, how the people around them behave and react in different situations. People generally tend to follow what they see and hear.
Your character can also be developed by reading and studying the life of others. That is, by observing how someone reacted to a problem or a particular challenge or situation.
And in this regard, what better examples can we think of than Hazrat Rasulullah, Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam, and Hazrat Musa, Alaihis Salam, and Hazrat Isa, Alaihis Salam?
But, of course, we can, and we must, learn good things from all good people from everywhere, which is what makes Islam so wonderful. Because Islam teaches us to learn good things from wherever we can find them.
