Those on the Run!
Those on the Run!
Dr. Pasha
(Bringing Islam to the World One Concept at a Time!
Taking the Qur'an to Every Home and Heart that Needs It --
And which One Does Not?)
There are many among us -- including quite a few of our young people -- who are on the run.
Many of them are people who, to one degree or another, we trained and educated and taught, which of course is a great blessing of Allah on us more than it is on them.
But they have a tendency to disappear -- many of them. They seem to fall by the wayside as it were..
We had hoped -- and we continue to hope -- that, once they learn and understand and are trained, they will put their shoulders to the wheel and will become an integral and active part of this work, which is to take Allah's book to every home and heart that needs it -- and which one does not?
And that basically boils down to taking Allah's Invitation to Islam and placing it in every pair of hands in every nook and cranny of the world -- in every culture and in every language -- whether that pair of hands belongs to males or females, adults or children.
But people are people. And Shaitan is after all of us -- as people.
And people, many of us, are by nature minimalists when it comes to Working for Allah. That means we try to get away -- many of us -- with the least amount of work that may be required or expected of us.
And we are also episodists, many of us.
That means we will do this, but not that, or we will do that but not this. We will just go from one project to another, as we see fit, or as someone tells us to do. And we will not be, in general, self-starters and self-motivated and self-directed.
And our work will not be sustained and non-stop, regardless of who is with us or not with us, but a collection of bits pieces.
So all of us -- young and not-so-young -- try and find all kinds of ways and excuses to run from Allah and from Working for Allah.
And many of us are plain fearful. Make no mistake about it. We are afraid, many of us.
The world has changed a great deal over the past 20 years and people are afraid: to be Muslim; to identify themselves as Muslim; and to be active in fields and activities considered "Islamic."
We fear for the safety of our lives and the wellbeing of our families. We also fear for our professional success.
And many of these fears are not ill-founded. They have a basis in reality. Yes, there are those in this world who are out to get you: personally and professionally. And even your families are no longer safe.
But while fear, under the circumstances that surround Islam and Muslims throughout the world today, is natural, the remedy may not be to run. Especially running from Allah.
Running may not guarantee safety: personal or professional. -- or for the family.
On the other hand, standing up for what we believe; being honest with ourselves; and working to invite everyone to Allah -- and doing it in the sweetest, gentlest and most wonderful ways that Allah expects of us -- and translating all that into a continuing and selfless struggle to make our communities and societies better -- regardless of whether those communities and societies are Muslim- or Non-Muslim Majority societies and communities -- is where true security is possible.
This is Allah's Eternal Law -- Sunnatullah: the way Allah's will manifests itself in his creation and the way Allah does things -- that does not change.
Wa Lan Tajida Li-Sunnatillahi Tabdeelaa!
So those who are on the run, and fearful, must always think of returning to the fold and working with us as part of the team to taking Allah's book to every home and heart that needs it -- and which one does not?
We have no complaints, no grudges, no scores to settle. Just plain insatiable hunger to make Allah's world better for each and every one of Allah's creatures using every pair of hands we can get -- new or old.
