How Muslim Women Exercise Power in a Democracy [Quote - 768]

Dr. Firdaus Kamalodeen

Alhamdulillah and congratulations to the Muslim Mother-Daughter team from Trinidad on being featured on the front page of Tuesday's edition of the local newspaper Newsday which captured them having just completed voting the day before.

Allahu Akbar.

This is how Muslim women exercise power in a democracy, which is what Islam is all about.

While some Muslims in some parts of the world seem to have just gotten an epiphany and came to the realization that Muslim women maybe should be allowed to drive, Muslim women in Democratic Trinidad not only drive, they also vote.

In one picture featuring our people, Allah showed how to do Islam.

Here in Trinidad and Tobago, when it comes to selecting the country's leadership, it is the model of Islam that is followed.

And as part of that model, Muslim women have full and equal rights of participation along with Muslim men and along with all the non-Muslim men and women in the country.

How beautiful Islam is -- if only people will not use it to advance their own personal, political and economic agendas and plans!
