Hajj 1438-2017 and the Muslim Mission:
What Really Is the Work?

Here is some of what may need to be done by Muslims everywhere:

Today, more than ever before, the need of the hour is for Islam, Muslims and the whole world to be rebuilt. 

Nothing less, nothing more.

That can be accomplished at several levels:

1. Clarifying and promoting Allah's Deen to Muslims. And that is because Muslims right now are a fairly confused and uninformed people.
2. Connecting Muslims with the Qur'an. For, most Muslims are clueless when it comes to the Qur'an.

3. Doing the same with non-Muslims. For, most non-Muslims have no idea whatsoever what Allah's Deen is really all about. 

   One reason for this state of abysmal ignorance about Islam in the world is because Muslims Won't Tell. 

   Another reason is because Non-Muslims Won't Ask.

4. Educating the Muslims in every conceivable form of Ilm and knowledge about both the Deen and the Duniya.
5. Training the Muslims in all the skills that are needed to be successful in this world as well as in the next world.

6. Making sure the entire world of Allah, and the entire Khalq of Allah, reaches the highest point of success, tranquility, justice, truth, goodness and peace in this world. 

   That the entire world of Allah becomes an embodiment of the Divine Concept of As-Salaam in every way and in every single aspect of its life.

These are just some aspects of Modern-Day Muslim Mission on Earth, whether we live in this world for only one hour or for the next 100 years.

Basically, what this means is that Muslims need to relearn the lesson of Innee Jaa-ilun Fil Ardi Khaleefah. For, the present day world of Allah is rudderless and lost.

So, how do we get the Muslims of the whole world to share this vision, and to commit to this goal, and to undertake this mission in practice? 

And how do we set the same fire in the hearts of our non-Muslim brothers and sisters everywhere?

In other words, how do we build a new and a better world for both Muslims and non-Muslims of the world and for all the Khalq of Allah?

That is what I am interested in doing and in achieving. And that is what I live and work for, even being the kind of reluctant warrior that I am. And even though I am the worst sinner and the most ignorant and incompetent individual on the face of this earth in every conceivable sense.

And that was what the written Wasiyyat of my ancestors was to me -- the set of written instructions and admonishments that were passed hand to hand down the generations in my family.

And that is what, to me, the message of Hajj is this year: Hajj 1438-2017.

And that is what Allah asked Ibrahim, Alaihis Salam, to do in exchange for returning his son to him who was slated for immediate sacrifice and instant slaughter like a lamb.

Annee Adhbahuka!

That is how Ibrahim, Alaihis Salam, saw and communicated his mandate from God to his son.

And his son responded by saying: 

"Go ahead, do what you have to do. 
I am ready and I am willing!"

Yaa Abatif'al Maa Tu'maru!

Sa-Tajidunee Inshallahu Minas Sabireen!

God Almighty then resolved the issue by declaring the sacrifice to be over, and to be done with, and exchanging the life of Ismaeel, Alaihis Salam, with the life of a lamb, some say from Paradise.

Hence the expression in the English language: Sacrificial Lamb!

Wa Fadainaahu Bi-Dhibhin Azeem!

And what a momentous sacrifice it was!

And then God says, Ibrahim, you are now the Leader of the World. So go and take charge of that world and take care of it! And fix it. 

And make sure everything in that world works the way it is supposed to and the way Allah wants it to work.

In the words of the Qur'an:

Innee Jaa-iluka Linnaasi Imaamaa! 

And then Allah left that mandate intact for all the subsequent generations:

Wa Taraknaa Alaihi Fil Aakhireen!

Muslims, under the leadership of Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, inherited and claimed and embraced and implemented that mandate. They gave the world a whole new life of joy and success and bliss and peace that lasted for 1000 years. 

Millatu Abeekum Ibrahim!

Said Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam!

"Just following the footsteps of your ancestor Ibrahim!"

Twenty years of the turbulent and eventful -- and the most blessed -- life of Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, turned into 1000 years of a most wonderful life bliss, justice and truth and peace for all of humanity on this earth.

Muslims then forgot their mission and they turned their back on it. They abandoned their mandate from God.

Muslims forgot Allah, and as a result Allah forgot Muslims. 

Surah Tawubah, Aayat 67:

Nasullaha Fa-Nasiyahum! 

What an Aayat! And what a statement! 

Does anybody need anything more than that to get a grip on what is happening to the Muslims? And what really is going on in the world?

And Allah thereafter imposed upon Muslims the same punishment that he imposes on those who do what Muslims did and continue to do, and what the Jews did before them -- abandon their divine mandate and break their covenant with Allah: 

Duribat Alaihim Ad-Dhillatu Wal-Maskanatu.

Wa Baa-oo Bi-Ghadabin Minallah!

These are the big, broad ideas concerning the change we want in the world today and forever. 

Now, to some more specific notions: 

How do we train college and university and high school students everywhere into important life skills? 

And into critical professional and technical competencies of all sorts? 

And in the right and productive and positive kind of attitudes and values that are the essentials of the modern age -- and of every age? 

And how do we train all the other young people everywhere in these things?

How do we teach them everything from thinking to speaking to writing to research to planning to organizing to management to leadership to technology to all else?

How do we inculcate in them a personal, universal and overwhelming sense of cleanliness and fitness -- physical, psychological as well as spiritual?

How do we teach them to hold a spanner in their hands and to be able to change the tires on their cars, if they have access to a car? Or in their neighbor's cars? Or at least to put air in their bicycle tires?

And to drive a nail in the wall and to take out one?

And much, much more?

Can all or any of this be done? 

Of course, yes! That is Allah's direct promise. Nothing less. All you have to do is to try!

Hear the words of the Qur'an loud and clear:

Walladheena Jaahadoo Feenaa, 
Lanahdiyannahum Subulanaa.

"You undertake the effort!
We shall crown it with success!"

So, the real question is: 

How then, given Allah's promise,
can we fail to accomplish any or all of it, 
if we only tried and started the effort?

So, Change the World, Anyone?
