Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim!
In the Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Most Merciful!

Dhul Hijjah 21, 1425/February 1, 2005
United States of America

Assalamu Alaikum!

It has taken us a while but, Alhamdulillah, we are now able to activate “Dr. Pasha’s Islamic Solutions E-Group Letters”.

Starting from today, Inshallah, I expect to keep a fairly steady stream of letters flowing out from here. I hope and pray you will be there to read, reflect and get back in touch with me through your replies.

Because it is when you write back that I would know that you are there and you read -- and you care.

These letters will come to you in no specific time frame. Their frequency will follow no specific pattern.

Nor are they likely to deal with any given set of topics.

They will more likely be my reflections on whatever strikes me as important on a given day. In other words, whatever Allah puts in my heart on whatever topic on a particular day – that is what the letters will be about. If I feel strongly enough about it, I will go with it.

I may, however, take up some issues or concerns that any of you specifically may ask me to address. The operative word is MAY. I will do it only when I feel that it is a topic or issue that I can deal with in some useful and positive way.

As for as possible, I will try to steer a course, Inshallah, away from futile disputes and controversies. It is a habit and mindset among some of us that we need to break.

Still, there will be plenty of stuff in my letters, I expect, and if that is what Allah would want, to excite thought and provoke reflection.

So, Allah bless you all -- I guess I will be saying that a lot -- and welcome to Dr. Pasha’s Islamic Solutions E-Group Letters.

And to this Letter # 1 in this proposed series Inshallah.

Here is some food for thought for all of you:

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim!
In the name of Allah the most merciful, the most merciful!

Did you ever think about it?

For sometime now I have wondered about the correlation between the two Arabic words Arrahman and Arrahim in the Qur’an and their common English equivalents used by translators of the Qur’an -- and by Muslims in general: the beneficent, the merciful, the compassionate, the gracious.

And I have started to ask myself why? What could be some of the reasons?

Think about it and we will talk, Inshallah.

In the meantime be well, positive, constructive, focused, productive, useful, helpful, kind, compassionate, nice -- and altogether Islamic.

For, those are part of the blessings Islam confers on us -- and attitudes and behaviors Islam expects of us.

And if you will, please do not forget me, my parents, my ancestors, my teachers and my family in your Du’a.
