World Day of Fasting

Cooperating for a Common Culture!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008/Ramadan 24, 1429

The Qur’an: Ta’alau ilaa kalimatin sawaa-in bainanaa wa bainakum: Come, let us join hands and explore all that we have in common!

Read-the-Qur’an Committee & Dr. Pasha’s Center for Culture & Community Service

Invite the world’s 5,000,000,000 non-Muslim men and women of all faiths, races, nationalities and political ideologies to join their 1,500,000,000 Muslim brothers and sisters around the world in a World Day of Fasting, this Wednesday, Ramadan 24, 1429/September 24, 2008.

Here is how:

1. Wake up before sunrise

2. Bathe, shower or wash up

3. Have a hearty breakfast

4. Make the intention that you are doing this purely for God

5. Eat and drink nothing the entire day

6. Stay away from all things you consider to be bad

7. Try to do whatever you believe to be good

8. Be extra loving, generous, kind and compassionate to your family

9. And to your friends and neighbors

10. And to everyone else whether you know them or not

11. Stay away from alcohol the whole day

12. Stay away from smoking the whole day

13. Promptly at sunset break the fast but eat and drink in moderation

14. Pray to God Almighty to shower his peace and blessings upon you

15. And upon your family and friends

16. And upon God’s good people everywhere

17. And upon your neighborhood, community, society and the whole world

Let us all come together and celebrate this World Day of Fasting!
This year and every following year for the rest of our lives! Let us join hands to create a common culture of peace, love and hope for humanity!
