Everyone is graduating from everywhere. It is that season again.

All over the world, it is graduation season. And what a blessed, happy season it is.

In this happy graduation season, we call on the world, all people all over the world, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, and whether they are male or female, to celebrate the 1^st of June every year as WORLD DAY OF EDUCATION.

Along with everything else that they celebrate.

What a day! You dreamed about it; you worked for it; and now it is here.

I am happy for you. And I am proud of you.

But just before you go, one more lesson.

The world is full of challenges. Go prepared to meet them. And meet them like the men and women you are: wanting to be the best.

It is not a jungle out there, as some people might have told you. The world is a fairly civilized place. [...]

It is from the very first chapter, the Opening Chapter if you will, of the Qur’an.

If this does not convince you that this Qur’an is from God, I don’t know what will.

May 23: World Day of Democracy!

We call on the world – the entire world, Muslim as well as non-Muslim; in the East as well as in the West – to declare and celebrate Wednesday, May 23, 2012, as WORLD DAY OF DEMOCRACY.

This year, May 23 coincides with 1st of the blessed month of Rajab Al-Murajjab Al-Ahsab Al-Asamm. 

For, democracy is Islam and Islam is from Allah!

And it is the first day of Presidential Elections in Egypt.

Islam was sent into this world by the maker and master of the world to guarantee basic freedoms and rights to all human beings, regardless of their race, gender or religion. [...]

What is going on Egypt is heartbreaking. The dream of democracy in Egypt so near and yet so far!

And, as usual, the world is in crisis – one more time.

The world is in crisis due every bit to its own doings – a sum total of its omissions and commissions, all the things it did and failed to do. A fruit in the making if you will of what the world’s own hands have wrought, as they used to say.

Or Bimaa kasabat ayidinnas, as the Qur’an phrased it in its own immortal and timeless words.

Egypt today is a serious challenge to the entire world.

The question is will the world support Egyptian struggle for freedom or will it sit back and watch as Democracy in Egypt is crushed, elections are stolen and the Great Egyptian People are massacred with impunity? [...]

It was 1971, in Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies, the Caribbean – and of course everywhere else.

Some of us started then to teach some of the others among us how to read the Qur’an.

This 1400-year-old book on this earth from Allah in our hands.

Still pure and pristine in its original form, every word and every letter of it, exactly the way Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, taught his followers whom he called his Companions.

Imagine this!

A man without any formal or informal schooling or tutoring or mentoring or training of any kind from any human source, a man who could not read or write himself, teaching the whole world this book that called itself Qur’an – The Reading!

And called itself Al-Kitaab – The Book!

And this book further claimed that it was a book free from all error and doubt.

Who writes a book like that?

And who makes a claim like that? [...]

Many of those who say they work for Allah, sometimes – or should I say often? – they forget one important detail about life: They forget that they should learn to put God above self.

As a result, many of them are too often too preoccupied with themselves: what they need; what they would like; what is remiss with their lives; and all the wrongs the world is doing to them, including many of their own fellow-workers for Allah.

They forget that putting God before Self is putting God’s Messenger and God’s book, and the teachings of God’s Messenger, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, above oneself and above one’s own needs, desires and preferences.

And all that also means putting the best interests of God’s creation above their own narrow and selfish personal interests and needs and wants. [...]
