There are three simple and yet very important slogans every Muslim — individual, group, organization and society — must learn and articulate; believe in firmly and uncompromisingly; and teach every new generation everywhere.
And those three slogans — or thoughts or ideas are:
Universalize Education — For Both Men and Women!
Of course, life is not — it should not be — about sloganeering. Certainly, not about empty, cliched, meaningless sloganeering, which often aims at nothing better than fooling people. And seeks little beyond self-aggrandizement and personal profit or advantage.
Even though sharp and clear thinking must always guide life at all stages, especially the life of a Muslim.
For, Islam is all about clear thinking.
And yet, thoughts by themselves are of little value, no matter how important, profound or clear they are, until they are expressed in precise, clear and powerful words. With clarity and focus — in the form of succinctly formulated phrases and sentences.
Sound Bites is what I suppose some people may call them these days, even though it is not quite the same thing. But Sound Bites is what drives today’s media world — from Television to Twitter.
And yet at the same time, it is we the Muslims that gave the world two of the best and most meaningful, powerful and revolutionary slogans or statements it has had for 1400 years.
It was Islam that did that.
And it was Qur’an that did that.
And the Qur’an made these two slogans household beliefs, thoughts and expressions — Articles of Faith — throughout the world, throughout the past 14 centuries.
Because these two thoughts, beliefs, arguments, assertions, statements constitute the very foundation of Islam:
Laa Ilaaha Illallah!
“1. No God But Allah! 2. Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, Is the Messenger of Allah!”
They are the twin-engines that run this world.
And the following three slogans embody the larger and some of the more practical meaning, message and implications of these two eternal divine truths and slogans of “Laa Ilaaha Illallah, Muhammad Rasulullah!” in every age, place and culture.

There are good and bad Muslims in this world. Just like all the good and bad non-Muslims that there are in this world.
Bad Muslims are of course busy doing bad things.
But good Muslims? They think they are doing good things. But ...
Islam came to liberate humanity from all kinds of slavery -- and vices. And it did so quite successfully.
Among the top modes of slavery Islam set humanity free from were Hereditary Kingship and Traditional Priesthood.

I have been saying this for years. No, make it decades.
"Islam Is Democracy!"
That means where there is no democracy, there can be no Islam.
No matter how hard you try to fit the square peg of Islam in the round hole ...
Those Muslims who have not committed themselves to take the Qur'an to every home and heart in this world, and who are not straining every sinew and bone for the accomplishment of that purpose, are fugitives from God's inescapable justice.
"Ultimately," as they say, the main purpose of the life of everyone of us on earth is to take the Deen of Allah to every inch of this earth.
In other words, to take the Qur'an to every home and heart ...
So long as there is a single non-Muslim on the face of this earth -- man, woman or child -- to whom the life-giving message of Islam is not conveyed in the clearest, sweetest, gentlest and the most respectful and ...
I have spent a lifetime learning, reading, analyzing, researching and thinking through Islam on the one hand and Democracy on the other hand.
And here is some of what I found.
In any society, where there is no democracy, there can be ...
Muslims always complain about what non-Muslims do to Muslims. Grievance and protest are thriving business among Muslims the world over.
But when did you ever see or hear Muslims complain or protest about what Muslims themselves do to Muslims?
Especially, Muslim leaders, ...
Muslims should -- and in fact they do -- know better. But give them half a chance, and they will say things -- totally stupid things if you ask me -- like:
"Ultimately, it is Allah's decision."
What is that supposed to ...
Islam means taking responsibility. And that means showing initiative when and where needed.
Initiative shows leadership. And Islam is leadership.
And that really is the foundation of true democracy and decentralization of power.

Islam, among other things, is about an elected and publicly accountable government and independent judiciary.
Qur’an laid down these principles quite clearly and precisely – among many others – for everyone to read, understand and implement in their lives and societies ...
Once again, I don’t know why I am writing this. Nor am I absolutely certain about what I mean by at least some of what I am saying.
In any case, here is the thought. And I have expressed it before.
"Tyranny has many faces and they are all from the Devil.
In case anyone has trouble understanding this simple equation, let me make it as clear as I possibly can: A so-called “Religious” Dictatorship or “Islamic” Dictatorship is still a dictatorship.
“To the extent Democracy implies rights, freedoms and opportunities for participation and representation for “The People,” it is from God and it embodies the essence and spirit of Islam.
Dictatorship on the other hand, any kind or type of dictatorship, whether it ...
