Hope on the Horizon:
Standing in Queue for Allah’s Blessings

Dr. Pasha

For all those waiting, they think, in line for Allah’s blessings, to get news of the acceptance of their Du’as from Allah, here is some good news:

Your prayers were heard when you made them!

Don’t believe me? Hear the one who said that: Ujeebu da’watad-daa’i idhaa d’aanee!

I don’t know how others will translate this most beautiful Aayat – and all Aayaat are most beautiful, each more than the rest – here is how I would paraphrase it:

“I answer the call of those who call me, the moment they call me.”

Experts can argue all they want about the difference in the meaning between “Idhaa” and “Idh.” To me, the meaning of the Aayat is as clear as my flawed and sinful human understanding can grasp it.

Not only was your call answered when you put through the call, all appropriate decisions were also made.

And they were made before you were born.

Now, standing in a queue, awaiting divine dispensation, is the way of this world.

It is the democratic and civilized way of doing things.

Simply call it the Islamic way.

We were standing in line, after line, before Allah, five times a day, no less, way before many others could even spell the word line.

More good news for those standing in line is that the lines are getting shorter, and the clock is ticking faster.

And a new hope is dawning on the horizon – every day and every moment.

So, just hang in there all you, knowing that your prayers have been answered.

The only question is what form the answers will take.

And when the postman will deliver the mail.

And whether it will be snail mail or superfast and digitized.

And here is a question for all you to ask yourself:

What is the fair way, the right way, the really, really smart way, for these things to happen?

Should Allah abide by your dictates and demands?

And leave things in your hands?

And let things happen the way you would want and stipulate?

And according to your specifications?

Or should he run his affairs — and yours — and the affairs of his world – the way he thinks best?

If it is any comfort to you — that is, if you have trained your heart to find comfort and joy in thinking about him; and in talking about him; and in submitting yourself to his decisions and dispensations — you should not forget the obvious:

His knowledge is infinity; yours is zero.

He knows everything; you know nothing.

So, who would you rather trust?

The one who knows all — that is him?

Or the one who knows nothing — that is you?

You may derive further comfort from the fact that his love for you is more than your own mother’s love for you.

And that is assuming your mother is the best of all mothers.

And it is more than the love of all the mothers of the world combined – both human and animal.

And that his concern with your wellbeing, in this world as well as in the next world, is stronger than your own concern with your own wellbeing anywhere.

And there is even more good news for you.

In all things pertaining to Allah, and all things do – they all pertain to Allah – the greatest thing is not just to get to the end of the line, for, this is a line with no end, but just to get in the line, no matter at what point.

No, don’t get it?

Complicated you think?

Let me put it this way:

Allah has a special line for everyone, its length and pace uniquely tailored to that individual.

Still have trouble believing? Here, read this:

Qul, kulluny ya’malu ‘alaa shaakilatihi.

Fa rabbukum a’alamu biman huwa ahdaa sabeelaa.

“Say: each person moves along a uniquely constructed trajectory.

Your master knows who is closer to the real path.”

So, to those of you waiting in Allah’s line, in expectation of his blessings and bounties, those ever-flowing and those in response to your prayers and pleadings, congratulations!

Good News!

Allah’s help is on the way.

It is just around the corner.

A-laa inna nasrallahi qareeb!

And don’t forget this:

Fabashshir ‘ibaadi!

Go give Good News to my slaves – men as well as women!

Sky is raining hope!
