Democracy-Islam Isomorphism

Guest Column | May 18, 2012

How much clearer can the issue of Democracy = Islam = Deen = Shari’ah be?

Finally, the world seems to be getting around to understanding this equation.

But notwithstanding those who haven’t got a clue, it seems to me that the message is gaining traction, as it were, across the world. You get the impression that more people are embracing this axiom, this truth. [...]

Democracy Is Islam!
Expand >>

Quote-Unquote – Book IV (301-400), Quote-Unquote: Dr. Pasha on Islam, Muslims and the World | May 17, 2012

“Democracy is Islam!

For those who understand both Islam and democracy, and the world in which we live, there is no doubt about the fact that democracy is Islam.

Do you think that is partly why the Qur’an mandated education – including a thorough knowledge and understanding of the world, for example – before people begin to even think or talk about Islam.

Leave alone boast and brag about it.

Why do you think God started his message to the world with the command: Read?

Iqra’!

Do you think it is a subtle hint from the creator of the world that Islam was not going to be a playground for fools, nincompoops and ignoramuses?

That it was a declaration from God that Islam was not going to be a bonanza for sundry Snake-Oil Merchants?

And for the marketers of all kinds of Mumbo-Jumbo in the name of what the world so glibly calls “Religion”?

Take heed people, Islam is democracy. That means, no democracy, no Islam.”

Democracy Is Shari’ah

Everyone knows it is open season on Islam. Of course, turkey and deer season in some parts of the world is not too far off either.

That means anyone from any background, and proceeding from any combination of motives, is free to shoot their mouth in any direction they please on Islam and things Islamic.

And they will be none the worse for doing that.

And that includes friends, enemies and innocent bystanders.

That is why the word Shari’ah gets bandied about a lot these days. By friends and foes alike. [...]

Knowing How to Pray
Quote-Unquote – Book IV (301-400), Quote-Unquote: Dr. Pasha on Islam, Muslims and the World | May 10, 2012
For a world that doesn’t seem to know even how to ask its own maker and master for what it wants and needs, here is a prayer taken directly out of the pages of the Qur’an.

It is from the very first chapter, the Opening Chapter if you will, of the Qur’an.

If this does not convince you that this Qur’an is from God, I don’t know what will.

So, here goes:

“Lead us on to the straight path!

The path of those you have blessed.

Not the path of those who displease you.”
We call on the world – the entire world, Muslim as well as non-Muslim; in the East as well as in the West – to declare and celebrate Wednesday, May 23, 2012, as WORLD DAY OF DEMOCRACY.

This year, May 23 coincides with 1st of the blessed month of Rajab Al-Murajjab Al-Ahsab Al-Asamm

For, democracy is Islam and Islam is from Allah!

And it is the first day of Presidential Elections in Egypt.

Egypt Is Asking: Where Is Everybody?

Main Articles & Books | May 3, 2012

What is going on Egypt is heartbreaking. The dream of democracy in Egypt so near and yet so far!

And, as usual, the world is in crisis – one more time.

The world is in crisis due every bit to its own doings – a sum total of its omissions and commissions, all the things it did and failed to do. A fruit in the making if you will of what the world’s own hands have wrought, as they used to say.

Or Bimaa kasabat ayidinnas, as the Qur’an phrased it in its own immortal and timeless words.

Egypt today is a serious challenge to the entire world.

The question is will the world support Egyptian struggle for freedom or will it sit back and watch as Democracy in Egypt is crushed, elections are stolen and the Great Egyptian People are massacred with impunity? [...]

1971-2012: What a Timeline!

Expand >>

Main Articles & Books | Apr 29, 2012

It was 1971, in Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies, the Caribbean – and of course everywhere else.

Some of us started then to teach some of the others among us how to read the Qur’an.

This 1400-year-old book on this earth from Allah in our hands.

Still pure and pristine in its original form, every word and every letter of it, exactly the way Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, taught his followers whom he called his Companions.

Imagine this!

A man without any formal or informal schooling or tutoring or mentoring or training of any kind from any human source, a man who could not read or write himself, teaching the whole world this book that called itself Qur’an – The Reading!

And called itself Al-KitaabThe Book!

And this book further claimed that it was a book free from all error and doubt.

Who writes a book like that?

And who makes a claim like that? [...]

God before Self

Expand >>

Main Articles & Books | Apr 28, 2012

Many of those who say they work for Allah, sometimes – or should I say often? – they forget one important detail about life: They forget that they should learn to put God above self.

As a result, many of them are too often too preoccupied with themselves: what they need; what they would like; what is remiss with their lives; and all the wrongs the world is doing to them, including many of their own fellow-workers for Allah.

They forget that putting God before Self is putting God’s Messenger and God’s book, and the teachings of God’s Messenger, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, above oneself and above one’s own needs, desires and preferences.

And all that also means putting the best interests of God’s creation above their own narrow and selfish personal interests and needs and wants. [...]

As a result, they should not become overly upset or despondent if at any given time or in any given place things don’t seem to go their way. [...]

Our Way Is the Way of Truth
Quote-Unquote – Book IV (301-400), Quote-Unquote: Dr. Pasha on Islam, Muslims and the World | Apr 24, 2012

“Allah is truth.

Not just any kind of truth, but clear and transparent truth.

That is what the Qur’an says.

Allah is Al-haqqul Mubin, says the Qur’an — clear and manifest truth.

Working for Allah, therefore, is all about truth and integrity.

When those are compromised, or replaced by fraud and deceit to any degree, there is nothing left of working for Allah.

This includes what is called “Spin” by the media and political commentators.

And it also may end up including what people think is merely ”Cutting Corners.” (Dr. Pasha)

God Is One!
Quote-Unquote – Book IV (301-400), Quote-Unquote: Dr. Pasha on Islam, Muslims and the World | Apr 19, 2012

God is one. Everyone knows that. Or, at least, they should.

So, the Qur’an says: “Say, God is One!”

Qul Huwallahu Ahad (112:1).

And then of course, if God is God, then he does not, should not, owe anything to anyone. He should not be beholden to or dependent on any one.

And the Qur’an says that too: Allahus Swamad (112:2).

So, that is who God is, our lord and master: Dhaalikumullahu Rabbukum (6:102; 10:3).

So, let us all join together in worshipping him – Fa’budoohu (6:102; 10:3).

A most beautiful message from the most beautiful Qur’an! (Dr. Pasha)

And yet there is one thing they do not talk about. Or they are reluctant to talk about.

Or they don’t put as much effort and energy into talking about.

Or, even, don’t show as much interest or inclination in talking about.

God Is Truly One of a Kind!

Main Articles & Books | Apr 3, 2012

God is truly one. And he is truly one of a kind.

Here is how the Qur’an describes God: There is nothing like him.

The words of the Qur’an are: Laisa kamithlihee shaiy.

To me, that is self-evident.

For, if he is not one of a kind, and if there are two or three or 10 or 15 running around who are exactly like him, and who look, talk and walk like him, then why is he God?

In that case, all of them, each and every one of them, should be God, right? [...]
